To be or not to be of the sea, that's the question. Often it has been said that the Catalans were living back to the sea, although the sea framed their history and their horizon. This is the paradox from which the research collected in this book begin, and where a maritime Catalan identity is studied, taking Arenys de Mar as a case study. The book study the relationship of people of Arenys with the sea, analyzing how the sea port of refuge, built in 1911 following a dramatic sea storm, impacted on their imagination and transformed the local life and society.
