On the occasion of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Consorci de les Vies Verdes de Girona (2003 – 2023), we have commissioned a study to learn about the history of the old tramways that crossed the Girona regions and connected the Costa Brava with the Pyrenees, transporting passengers and goods. And we especially wanted to learn about the transformation of these routes, once abandoned, into the current greenways of Girona.

“The traces of the Girona Railways. From the closure of the railways to the Greenways Consortium (1969 – 2003)”, is a study carried out by the Institute for Research in Cultural Heritage (ICRPC – CERCA) and financed with funds from the European Union – Next Generation of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. C14.I01.”
