Description

The current Law 9/1993 of September 30 and referring to Catalan cultural heritage represented, at the time, a significant advance. Currently, and thirty years later, several aspects converge that require the updating and modification of some fundamental issues contemplated in the legislative text. From the application of theoretical positions of international organizations experts in cultural heritage through directives, regulations and communiqués, to the review and expansion of other essential elements such as the conception of heritage, the protection of movable property, sustainability, or the role of cultural heritage in contemporary society.

The purpose of this assignment is to prepare the preliminary report and the draft of the Catalan Cultural Heritage Law which, based on the documentation generated over the past few years and through consultation with the different interlocutors of the services of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Generalitat, allows the updating of the Law, adapting it to current times and our society.
