For many years, professionals in the sector have been advocating for the need to develop a more diverse audience. So, what needs to be done differently to achieve better results?
What changes are necessary to ensure that our diverse society is represented and served by museums?
‘Open Up: museums for everyone’ is designed to help museums increase the diversity of their visitors. Its goal is to support organizations in moving beyond words to action and driving real, lasting change in the museum sector.
In collaboration with 12 pioneering museums, stories of change have been collected, including the success factors that have enabled these museums to significantly diversify their visitors. These museums have shared the questions they regularly ask themselves and their potential visitors to continue improving. It is hoped that these experiences will serve as inspiration and help drive change in many other museums.
