This new publication by Ibermuseos compiles a set of recommendations for the design and evaluation of virtual activities and resources, developed from the experiences of expert professionals from the region. Its objective is to provide useful and easily applicable suggestions for museums, with particular attention to small and medium-sized institutions.
The publication offers a conceptual framework that analyses the relationship between in-person, digital, and virtual experiences, and provides an in-depth exploration of the concept of quality. It defines the digital strategy for museums and provides guidelines for the planning of virtual activities and resources. It presents reflections on the content creation process and the criteria for evaluating virtual activities and resources. Moreover, it provides practical, specific tools for museum management, including a specialized glossary, examples of good practices, support sheets for evaluation, and a set of specific indicators for monitoring and assessing activities and resources developed for virtual environments.
This project is the result of the collaborative work of a working group established within the Ibero-American Museum Observatory Forum of the Ibermuseos Programme, comprising professionals from Argentina, Chile, Spain, and Mexico: Max Pérez Fallik, Candela Arellano, Daniela Serra, Olga Ovejero, Alicia González Bouza, Tania Fábrega, and Leticia Pérez Castellanos, with the support of the Programme’s Technical Unit.
