Description

Project to digitize the parchment collection of the Monastery of Sant Daniel (Girona), within the framework of the collaboration between the University of Girona, the Monastery of Sant Daniel, the Archives Service of the Federation of Benedictine Nuns and the Catalan Institute for Research in Cultural Heritage. With the aim of digitizing and disseminating the important collection of parchments from the collection of the Monastery of Sant Daniel in Girona.

The Library of the University of Girona (UdG) has digitized and published the parchments of the Monastery of Sant Daniel, from a collection of a total of 1,598 documents. The project has also included the incorporation of the transcription of 200 of these parchments. The oldest dates from the year 938 and includes documents of sale of the land and establishment of the monastery more than 1,000 years ago.

The Archive of the Monastery of Sant Daniel de Girona (AMSDG) is the historical archive of the community of Sant Daniel, and as such, it houses documentation produced by itself, the result of the activity carried out from the 11th century to the beginning of the 20th century, and documentation external to the community, which it has gathered throughout its life.

The documents can be consulted in the collection in the institutional repository DUGi Special Collections: Scrolls of Sant Daniel.
